six pack abs
britchic asked:

At 44, 4′11 , 108lbs - I work out every day with weights and aerobics but my tummy is stretch marked and even though I have some definition I am wondering if it is even possible to get completely flat and have six pack abs?

Yes you can, the key is to target those areas of problem, so an excersise ball is ideal, as well as sit ups are great too. Good luck.

You certainly can by doing exercises that target this area, but do note that you will probably still hold on to the stretch marks. There is no miracle cure for those. I have a friend who is in fantastic shape; she even teaches several aerobics and spinning classes at a gym and she works out 7 days a week. However, after having children, she still had her strecth marks and had to have a tummy tuck to remove them.

the diet determines body composition. stretch marks are nothing but tears in the lower layer of the dermis, they have no effect on fat loss.

if you truly want a six pack you will have to count calories, eat at least 4 times a day with a snack and cook plenty of healthy foods from all natural sources.

    my mom is 67 years old 5′5 @ 130 lbs with 16% body fat and a six-pack

Yes, it is, no doubt about that. Science says so at least and I have seen it happen. However, I won’t full you, it ain’t easy!

The real trick is to make the metabolysm beg for fuel and denny it any surplus amount of carbs. Carbs is the first fuel the body burns for energy. Only after that it starts burning amino acids and fat. If you don’t eat enough carbs you force the body to decompose the fat it has stored.

The trick is not to allow the metabolism to remove amino acids from your own body, because that means it will be eating into your muscles (muscles are the store house of amino acid, the same way as the fat cells are the store house of fat). The way to prevent that is to eat enough protein and to keep exercising. The body notice that it needs the muscle for exercise and if it removes some of it, it will make some more as well. This way you will not loose muscle mass.

On the other hand, if you keep burning the fat, sooner or later you will have your 6 pack, provided you have the muscles well toned underneath the layer of tummy fat.

One of the best exercise routines for your tummy is Pilates.
Get a book in the library and follow instructions. It does not take too many exercises, just memorize 3 or 4 of them and do them every day, regularly, along with 3 to 4 times a week of some slow aerobic routine to help burn the fat.

Drink lots of water this period because you will need to get rid of Ketone bodies (the residual of the fat burn process).

    Good luck,

P.S. In case you need suggestions how to reduce carbs, here it goes:

    1- eliminate all sodas (ALL)
2- don’t eat pasta, white breat, pizza, cakes, candy, etc..
3- eat about 30 g a day of complex carbohydrates (those from vegetables and whole grains).
4- MEMORIZE that simple carbs (like the sugar in chocolate, ice cream and other forbidden goodies) goes straight to your tummy fat becuase it metabolizes too fast to go anywhere else.
