Laying on the floor with your bottom on the floor

or

Laying on the floor with your bottom up off the floor.

I’ve seen it done both ways. Which is correct?

I can’t tell from your description since it leaves it hard to visualize what you’re doing.

Which creates the most tension in your abdominal region? That’s the one to do. Put your hands on the area you want to change and see if the muscles there get tense. If not, it’s not going to help much in that area. Core exercises can also help, just sitting in a chair with your legs raised in front of you can use those muscles.

NONONONO not the second one. If you want good abs, you want your bottom to stay on the floor and you’re supposed to contract your abs in, keeping your lower back flat ( like sucking your belly button into the floor. Thats the correct way to do it.
